Platform
From a spatial file to a shared answer, without leaving the browser.
Layers, maps, analysis and dashboards live in one workspace, so the people who prepare spatial data and the people who need its answers work from the same source.
-
Bring in your data
Upload spatial files and each one becomes a layer, with its attributes intact and ready to style, filter and analyse.

Developers
Every layer is an API away.
Use Mapsmith as the source of truth for spatial data in your own systems: query it, render it and automate it, with access you control.
- GeoJSON
Query features
Request the features of a layer as GeoJSON for your own applications, scripts and reports.
- Vector tiles · Styles
Serve maps anywhere
Stream layers as vector tiles and reuse the styles you designed, so maps look the same outside Mapsmith.
- Access
Scoped API keys
Create keys that carry only the access an integration needs, and revoke them when it no longer does.
- TypeScript · Terminal
SDK and CLI
Script uploads and automate routine work from TypeScript code or from the command line.
Deployment
Runs on your infrastructure, built from open parts.
Mapsmith is self-hosted, so your spatial data stays where you decide. Withso can help plan, deploy and support an installation.
- 01
Deploy
Run Mapsmith with Docker on servers you choose.
- 02
Sign in
An administrator creates accounts. Keycloak handles sign-in.
- 03
Store
Layers and analysis results live in PostGIS, a database you control.

Share
Keep work private, share it inside your organisation or publish it to Explore.

What is Mapsmith?
Mapsmith is a web GIS: a geographic workspace that runs in the browser. You can bring in spatial data as layers, style maps, run spatial analysis, build dashboards and share the results, without installing desktop GIS software.
Which data formats can I import?
GeoJSON, CSV files with coordinate columns, zipped Shapefiles and GeoPackages. Each upload becomes a layer with its attributes, which you can style, filter, analyse and share.
What spatial analysis can I run?
Buffers, clip, intersect, dissolve, spatial joins and summarize within. Results are saved as new layers, so you can map them, use them in a dashboard or analyse them further.
Who can see my maps and dashboards?
You decide. Content can stay private, be shared with your organisation or teams, or be made public. Public content is listed on Explore, where anyone can open it without an account.
How do people get an account?
Accounts are created by an administrator, so access stays under your organisation’s control. Public content on Explore is open to everyone. Request access for your team by email.
Can we host Mapsmith ourselves?
Yes. Mapsmith is self-hosted and backed by PostGIS, and it runs with Docker. It is built with Angular, Go, MapLibre and Keycloak. Talk to us about planning and supporting a deployment.
Can I work with Mapsmith from code?
Yes. The API provides GeoJSON queries, vector tiles and map styles, secured with scoped API keys. A TypeScript SDK and a command-line tool help you script uploads and automate routine work.
How does Mapsmith relate to JurisField?
They are separate Withso products that handle the same kind of data. Mapsmith is for analysing and publishing spatial data. JurisField is for collecting verified records in the field. Both work with standard formats such as GeoJSON.
Need verified records from the field?
JurisField turns layers, forms and work areas into offline-ready assignments, and returns every record with its location and evidence.
